Introduction for Patients

At FibroGen, we are committed to the discovery and development of products that truly advance medicine by helping doctors to treat patients more effectively and by profoundly impacting the ability of patients to live better lives.

Before a new therapy or treatment can be made widely available, it must go through a rigorous testing process involving multiple studies with human volunteers. Referred to as clinical trials, these studies are carefully conducted within guidelines set by the Food and Drug Administration in the U.S., and similar regulatory authorities outside the U.S.

The purpose of clinical trials is to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of potential new products. Patients that participate in clinical trials can gain access to the latest investigational treatments before they are widely available and play a critical role in advancing medicine by helping researchers answer key questions about potential new products.

FibroGen is currently recruiting patients for the following clinical trials in Europe:

ANEMIA: FG-2216

  • A multi-dose, placebo-controlled clinical trial in patients with anemia of chronic kidney disease, who will have recombinant EPO therapy withdrawn, is enrolling in Poland.
  • A multi-dose, placebo-controlled clinical trial in patients with anemia of chronic kidney disease, who have not received recombinant EPO therapy, is enrolling in Germany and Finland.

  • FibroGen has completed the following clinical trials:

    DIABETIC NEPHROPATHY: FG-3019

  • FibroGen has completed a Phase 1b clinical trial of FG-3019 in type 1 and type 2 diabetic patients who are microalbuminuric (early-stage kidney disease). Results will be presented at the 2006 annual meeting of the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) in November.

    IDIOPATHIC PULMONARY FIBROSIS: FG-3019
