Tumor metastasis
The CCN family of proteins of which CTGF is a member is involved in stimulation of cell proliferation, migration, and adhesion. Members of the CCN family, including CTGF and Cyr61, have been implicated in cancer and causally linked with tumor angiogenesis, invasiveness and metastasis. FibroGen has an active research program in the discovery and development of small molecule and protein therapeutics (see Anti-CTGF) targeting CTGF/CCN proteins for the treatment of cancer, especially highly metastatic cancer types, such as those that affect the bone.
