Hypoxia-inducible Factor (HIF) Stabilization
Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) controls the body's powerful and protective responses to hypoxia (oxygen deprivation). FibroGen is developing small molecule inhibitors of HIF-prolyl hydroxylases (enzymes that regulate HIF activity) to harness and direct HIF-mediated protective mechanisms for therapeutic benefit. FibroGen's goal is to design unique drug molecules that induce selected physiological effects targeted to treating a particular disease or medical condition of interest.
