TGF-beta has long been a target of drug discovery efforts focused on
developing therapies to treat chronic fibrosis. FibroGen is working
on the discovery and development of novel small molecules that
selectively inhibit TGF-beta without affecting other important functions
of this growth factor, such as suppression of tumor growth and
inflammation, for the treatment of chronic fibrotic disorders of
the liver and heart.
