FibroGen has generated a prototype recombinant gelatin that has
been shown to meet the acceptance criteria for gelatins used in capsules.
The company is developing both fermentation based and transgenic plant
sources for this material and is working
closely with capsule manufacturers to define the ideal recombinant
gelatin for this application.
