Cancer
CTGF is highly overexpressed in a wide variety of tumors, including those with extensive interactions with the connective tissue stroma, such as pancreatic cancer, osteolytic breast cancer, multiple myeloma, and glioblastoma. In several of these cancers, CTGF levels correlate with tumor severity and disease progression. FibroGen is exploring the therapeutic utility of anti-CTGF antibodies in several preclinical cancer models and filed an Investigational New Drug application in September 2004 for FG-3019, its lead anti-CTGF monoclonal antibody, in pancreatic cancer.
