FibroGen is developing FG-3019, a fully human monoclonal antibody (MAb)
to connective tissue growth factor (CTGF), for the potential treatment
of pancreatic cancer. Studies show that abnormally
high levels of CTGF are found in pancreatic tumor tissue. Preclinical
studies demonstrate that CTGF drives tumor growth and metastasis
and that neutralizing antibodies to CTGF effectively stop tumor
progression.

Development Status
In March 2003, FibroGen was awarded a Phase I Small Business
Innovation Research grant from the National Cancer Institute to
support the development of new anti-cancer agents targeting CTGF
and help to define CTGF's role in cancer.
An Investigational New Drug (IND) application is on file with
the FDA to begin clinical testing of FG-3019 in patients with
pancreatic cancer.
