Description: FG-4592 is an orally active, small molecule
designed to selectively induce the expression of genes that mediate
erythropoiesis, including EPO and genes that increase iron mobilization
and utilization for red blood cell production, and also overcome
the suppression of erythropoiesis by chronic inflammation.
Status: FibroGen has completed single-dose, dose-escalation
studies of FG-4592 in normal human volunteers and is currently
conducting multi-dose, dose escalation studies. Phase 2 studies are
underway in the U.S.
