Description: FG-3019 is a
fully human monoclonal antibody against Connective Tissue Factor
(CTGF), a multifunctional protein involved in the regulation of
cell growth and maintenance and in tissue remodeling, and a key
mediator of chronic fibrosis (persistent and excessive scarring).
Status: Elevated levels of CTGF are found in lung tissue
from patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and preclinical
studies show that treatment with FG-3019 reduces scarring in models
of lung fibrosis. FibroGen has completed a Phase 1 study of FG-3019
in patients with IPF in the U.S. in which FG-3019 was found to be safe
and well-tolerated. |
